Liverpool could sign £103M superstar if 26-year-old leaves in January following "verbal agreement" in August

Liverpool could sign their number one £103M target in January if their deadline day signing leaves in January, according to the latest reports.

Their deadline day signing Arthur Melo has only had 13 minutes of action so far but it is still being linked with ending his loan move early in January.

This summer saw Liverpool move for Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni before he opted for a move to the European Champions Real Madrid and following that they didn't secure a midfielder until signing Arthur on deadline day.

Sources have revealed that Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Jude Bellingham which could then see Arthur potentially leave as early as January.

Latest reports on Bellingham and Melo

A report from Tuttomercatoweb claims that Liverpool aren't keen on Arthur long-term and it claims they want to sign a new midfielder on a permanent basis because he doesn't fit their style of play.

He was allowed to leave Juventus on a loan deal to free up wages and because he also struggled to hold down a regular place. The report claims if Liverpool were to sign someone in January then they would allow Arthur to return to Italy.

One player who could be signed is Bellingham, as FootballInsider247 claim Liverpool reached a verbal ‘agreement’ with Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham and he could even sign in January.

Liverpool have been busy behind the scenes in recent months on having an agreement in place that could see Bellingham join as early as January of next year.

Former Red Jose Enrique has claimed that Arthur was a panic buy despite his natural talent.

"I saw Arthur Melo at Barcelona and he’s a fantastic player with a lot of talent but the reality is that he was a panic loan from Liverpool," Enrique told Lord Ping.

"I don’t think Liverpool would’ve signed a midfielder if Jordan Henderson hadn’t been injured."

In the summer, Liverpool had attempted to bring in a midfielder on a permanent basis but had failed to secure any of their targets. News has revealed in recent days that they had indeed scouted huge targets, but couldn't get any of the deals over the line.

Bellingham looks like the long-term goal and nothing can be ruled out since Liverpool have three players (James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita) out of contract next summer and need to revitalise their midfield.
