Liverpool bid worth £20M would be "tempting" as Klopp targets 21-year-old 'exciting' midfielder

Liverpool have been linked with a 21-year-old exciting midfielder who is only currently valued at £2m, according to the latest reports.

We know Liverpool are scrambling around for signing and we expect more rumours like this to pop up with the transfer window closing next week.

It seems Jurgen Klopp may be keen to do some business after all, with the latest links seeing Liverpool reportedly interested in Celtic's Matt O'Riley.

Considering the level of the players they have been linked to, this comes as a surprise, an outside choice for a midfield recruit.

Latest reports on O'Riley

Liverpool are considering whether or not to make a late move to sign Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley. That’s according to ESPN, who claim that the 21-year-old has ‘caught the eye’ of teams across Europe, including Liverpool.

It’s claimed that Celtic have ‘no interest’ in letting O’Riley go. However, a bid of £15-£20m could reportedly be ‘tempting’ for the Scottish Champions.

As well as Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City are also claimed to be weighing up a bid for O’Riley. Meanwhile, scouts from Lille and Wolfsburg are said to have been ‘impressed’ after watching him.

It certainly matches Klopp's comments today that: “We are working constantly on these things. One thing stays important; it needs to be the right player”. Is O'Riley the right player?

Could he fit in at Liverpool?

O'Riley is a young, but talented versatile midfielder. Currently valued at £2m, he is still early on into his career and developing nicely.

He came through the ranks at Fulham, before moving to MK Dons and now Celtic - where he's featured 24 times. Born in England, he is a Denmark and England youth international, with one cap for the U21 Denmark side.

It doesn't seem like the right move for right now, given he would be far down the pecking order once injured players do return to Liverpool's side. However, he can play multiple roles which helps his cause.

With options on the market such as Youri Tielemans, Leandro Paredes and others, it seems like a left-field choice to go after O'Riley who does not seem at this level yet.
