Club receives bids from three teams for £60m striker Liverpool recently held talks with
Liverpool will need to gazump Tottenham if they're to have any chance of signing Dusan Vlahovic this summer after they reportedly submitted a bid to Fiorentina.
Anfield Central reported last week that Liverpool will need to pay £60million to sign the Serbian from Fiorentina and it now looks as though they will have to play catch up if they are to stand any chance of bringing him to Merseyside.
In Serie A this season, Vlahovic scored 21 goals and essentially dragged Fiorentina out of the relegation battle with his goals accounting for 44% of his side's tally for the 2020/21 league campaign.
Spurs, AC Milan and Atletico bid for Vlahovic
According to Calciomercato, three proposals have been made to sign the 1.9m striker with Spurs, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid the clubs that have officially made offers to Fiorentina.
The report says that €60million is what it will take to sign Vlahovic although we understand it's actually sixty million pounds which is a major difference but the fact remains that if Liverpool are going to sign him, they need to act fast.
Juventus are said to be a side that Vlahovic fancies joining but Massimiliano Allegri's side is yet to make an offer.
What would Vlahovic add to Liverpool?
The ‘Purple Bomber’ has 21 goals and 2 assists in 37 Serie A games this season and he would add significant quality to Liverpool’s starting XI.
What makes Vlahovic an interesting target is his impressive knack for scoring important goals in big games.
Juventus might not be the domestic powerhouse they once were and although Cuadrado was sent off, the Serbian was immense against the Turin side when Fiorentina beat them 3-0 right before Christmas.
In fact, his goal against the Bianconeri came in the third minute of the game – 18 minutes before Juan Cuadrado was given his marching orders. Vlahovic won 9 aerial duels and wasn’t dispossessed once, according to WhoScored.
His best display of the season, however, came against Benevento as he scored a hattrick on his side’s way to a commanding 4-1 victory.
In that game, he scored with all three shots he took, won 13 aerial duels but had a 55% pass completion pass despite only attempting 11 passes.
As you can tell, the Fiorentina hitman is extremely strong in the air but his passing game and link-up play could use a lot of work especially if he was to join Liverpool, whose style of play demands fluidity.
That said, the 6ft2 striker would give Jurgen Klopp a genuine Plan B for when things are going seriously awry.
The German coach could chuck Vlahovic on and instruct Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson to spam crosses in the hopes he gets onto the end of one.
