Transfer deadline day has been quiet a notoriously quiet occasion for Liverpool ever since Jurgen Klopp joined the club.

Getting deals done early and allowing time for players to settle in has been the main driving factor behind this.

Liverpool have been very efficient and effective in the market over past seasons.

Barring late moves for Luis Díaz and Fabio Carvalho in January 2022, business is usually wrapped up a long time in advance of the window closing.

Of course the aforementioned move for Carvalho in January ultimately failed due to a lack of time on deadline day.

This goes further to suggest Klopp and his transfer team have worked in the right manner without panicking.

However, this summer an exception did have to be made.

Injuries racking up, especially in midfield, has forced the German boss to dip into the market once again late on.

Arthur is a Red

A name that had not even been whispered during the entire summer was Arthur Melo.

The 26 year old only appeared to come into the picture on the final day as the Reds swooped to get their man.

A loan move was agreed with Juventus for the remainder of the 2022/23 season and fans will hope he can ease their midfield issues.

With captain Jordan Henderson reportedly suffering a hamstring injury during the 2-1 win over Newcastle on Wednesday, reinforcements were necessary.

Perhaps one body is not quite enough but that is the choice taken by the club and we will all be right behind the Brazilian.

New to the Premier League…what will he bring?

Arthur is a player in a similar mould to Thiago, Liverpool’s main conductor in the middle of the park.

Keeping possession and being a cool and composed presence in the engine room will hopefully allow Jurgen Klopp’s side to control more games.

It has been a frantic start to the season for the Reds as games have become scrappy and slightly end to end.

This is due to the midfield injuries and the players actually on the field performing to a low standard.

Fans will be hoping for a player that technically improves the side and helps bring back the dominance they used to regularly have over games.

Klopp has maybe over-relied on Thiago at times and Arthur’s arrival can possibly ease this reliance once he is integrated into the side.
