“Made a huge mistake”: Star may have played last game for Liverpool, he’s leaving in the summer

A recent report suggests that Celtic is one club that Caoimhin Kelleher may choose to join in the summer with the Irishman likely to leave in search of first team football.

The 25-year-old has been wonderful servant for the club but with Alisson Becker back in training after injury, Kelleher may have played his last game for the club.

It will be an absolute shame if that's the case as a player as good as him deserves better than to bow out after a 3-0 defeat - especially a goalkeeper.

But alas, Alisson is simply too good to leave out.

What makes it even more tragic from Kelleher's perspective is that he did not have a good game at all. For more than one of the goals, he could and should have done a lot better.

The display, which was not the only bad one on the night, has been crticised in the press.

Pundit with Jay Bothroyd said on air last night during the game that Kelleher should have done better.

“It was poor from Kelleher,” he said live during commentary for Sky Sports. “This was the first time since Alisson’s injury that has made a huge mistake.”

However, Kelleher did show glimpses of his capability with a remarkable save from Teun Koopmeiners later in the half, which Bothroyd praised, saying, “This time it was a fantastic save by Kelleher. He steamed out to close the angle down and smothered it really well.”

Liverpool are reportedly already looking at the player to replace Kelleher, who they hope to receive £20 million for, with a report from This Is Anfield suggesting Anthony Patterson is a target.

Liverpool are monitoring Patterson "closely" ahead of the summer transfer window.
