Jurgen Klopp delivers crucial double injury boost in huge week for Liverpool

Liverpool have received a crucial double injury boost ahead of their Europa League clash against Sparta Praha tonight and the Premier League title showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp has delivered a positive update ahead of this evening's Round of 16 first leg.

The most significant news is Mohamed Salah's return, as he joined the team's trip to Czechia for their upcoming clash against Sparta Prague in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 tie, which is set to kick off at 5:45pm UK time on Thursday.

Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to face Sparta, Klopp confirmed that Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are back in training which was further confirmed when Liverpool shared a gallery of Wednesday's training photos.

Klopp said: “It is good that he [Salah] is back. He loves playing football. Being injured is for him tough, tough, tough.

“It was not an injury where it was painful every day or whatever, he was just not allowed to train properly, how it is with muscle injuries.

“So, that’s the reason why we had to be careful in his rehab, because if you would have asked Dom, he could have trained completely with the team for two or three weeks, but all the medical advice told us no, we have to wait. And that’s what we did.

“Now he is back, played a few minutes, is in the squad. All the rest, we will see.”

Szoboszlai came off the bench against Nottingham Forest but it's good to see he avoided any setbacks after what was an intense match to drop into.

Unfortunately for Klopp, there isn't exactly an 'easy' fixture this week to get his two stars up to speed.

Salah's return, having made just one appearance for the Reds in 2024, injects Liverpool with the kind of world-class quality and attacking threat that can turn any game in their favour.

His ability to find the back of the net and create opportunities is a fundamental element of Liverpool's game plan, making his comeback a major boon for Klopp and the team.

Equally, Szoboszlai's recovery from injury and subsequent return to the fold brings back a player whose talent and contribution have been sorely missed.

Despite being in his maiden season at Anfield, Szobo has already made a significant impact and extended his record of winning a trophy every year of his professional career.
