Liverpool's interest in Palmeiras' young sensation, Luis Guilherme, continues as reports suggest the Reds lead the chase for his signature.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been making waves in Brazilian football, is now firmly on the radar of the Premier League giants.

Guilherme, dubbed a 'wonderkid' for his impressive performances both for Palmeiras and the Brazil Under-20s, is playing regularly for his club and showcasing the kind of talent that has several top European clubs on alert.

However, it's Liverpool who are said to be the most keen on securing his services, according to the Daily Mail. It follows a claim from journalist Jorge Nicola that they intend to submit a bid in the coming days.

What makes Guilherme stand out is not just his current form but also his potential, hinted at by a remarkable feat in his youth career.

Joao Paulo Sampaio, Palmeiras’ youth director, highlighted Guilherme's extraordinary ability by recalling an instance where the young star scored over 40 goals in a single tournament in Japan.

He said: "We played in a tournament in Japan and Luis scored over 40 goals.

"The Japanese players were scared of him. But Luis doesn’t get carried away. He knows the potential he has. He’s a very special player."

This achievement speaks volumes about his natural talent and goal-scoring capabilities, adding an exciting layer to his already impressive profile.

Guilherme's blend of pace, technical skill, and knack for navigating past defenders makes him a highly coveted prospect.

Despite a need to improve his attacking output in senior football, the Brazilian's underlying qualities suggest he could thrive in the Premier League's intense and fast-paced environment.

A move to sign Guilherme will be very expensive. In October, he signed a new contract and Mundo Deportivo reported it contained a €60 million (£51.3M) release clause.
