Manchester City are certain they will complete £80M transfer before Liverpool

It may just be the transfer rumour mill throwing Liverpool and Manchester City together because they play this weekend, but reports indicate the Cityzens are certain the will win the race to sign Jamal Musiala this summer.

The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and with Bayern Munich releasing Thomas Tuchel from his contract at the end of the season, now may be the best time to poach Musiala from the Bavarians.

According to the Daily Star, Musiala has snubbed a new contract in an attempt to make a move away from the Allianz Arena possible as Liverpool and Manchester City wait in the wings.

The outlet reported last month that the two clubs lead the race and both have recently scouted him. This season, Musiala has nine goals and four assists in all competitions.

At the time of Liverpool and Man City's scouting trips to Germany, Bayern still had a £150,000-a-week contract offer on the table.

Since the, Musiala has rejected it. His decision to reject it has taken speculation over an exit from Bayern to fever pitch.

After being made aware of Musiala rejecting Bayern's contract offer, City have grown confident they can beat Liverpool to his signature. A move to sign him could cost around £85 million, according to Fabrizio Romano in October.

Liverpool, however, are not the only English club circling as Chelsea are also showing "strong interest" themselves and would love to re-sign Musiala after he represented their Academy.
