Former key LFC man will not accept Man Utd role from Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Despite leaving Liverpool, Michael Edwards will not be assuming the position of sporting director at Manchester United.

According to a report by the Mirror, even with Sir Jim Ratcliffe on the verge of acquiring a 25% share of Manchester United, Edwards remains unfazed and will not yield to accept a role in the anticipated revamping of the club.

Edwards parted ways with Liverpool after an 11-year long stint. He held the reins of recruitment until 2022, when he decided to move on from his role.

Following Edwards' departure, Julian Wards stepped into his shoes. However, he left the position after a solitary season.

As of now, the post of sporting director at Liverpool is held by Jorg Schmadtke, who seems to be living on borrowed time. Speculation began last week that Max Eberl might be the next person to be handed the baton.

Edwards' decision seems to be a significant setback for Manchester United, who were obviously looking to leverage his talent and experience to rejuvenate the team.

Edwards played a major role in crafting the successful team at Liverpool and his skills could have potentially been instrumental in restructuring the Old Trafford outfit.

However, it is clear that Edwards has made up his mind. As the situation stands, the Manchester United club will have to look elsewhere for a suitable replacement to fulfill their ambitions.
