42-year-old has not returned to transfer role with Liverpool despite report

A report from Anfield Index claimed that former Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward had returned to assist on transfers during the summer.

During a period in which fans were desperate to see transfers completed with the Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia double blow leaving the midfield rebuild looking bleak.

At that point, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister had already joined the club and the potential for what the season could, transfer depending, hold.

The report from Anfield Index suggested Ward had been "involved" in recruitment again since "mid-August".

However, the Athletic's James Pearce reports that after contacting both Liverpool FC and Julian Ward directly, they "strongly denied" these claims.

Rather, the 42-year-old is "enjoying spending more time with his young family" while he is "considering his next move."

Meanwhile, Michael Edwards is not considering a potential job offer to work with Manchester United in the face of news of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25% stake in the Old Trafford.
