Mohamed Salah is the latest player to be involved in contract rumours this week.
It has been reported that Luis Diaz is pushing for a new deal at Anfield. However, Liverpool are not ready to begin talks as they want to wait till the end of the season. The Colombian has less than two years left on his current deal. The club’s priority is the futures of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent.
Speaking about Virgil Van Dijk, the Liverpool captain has caused some tension recently. According to reports, players in the dressing room are becoming increasingly concerned about his future. The defender is set to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Mohamed Salah makes Liverpool contract demand

Salah is also out of contract this summer. The forward is having one of his best ever seasons in Liverpool colours this year. He has 24 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League this year. In the January transfer window, the reds rejected offers from the Saudi Pro League for the forward. Al-Hilal were linked with a move, but both Salah and the club wanted to see out the rest of the season. The most recent report claimed that there is a two-year deal on the table, which is yet to be completed. There is hope that Mohamed Salah could extend his stay at Anfield, despite reports claiming that Al-Hilal want him to end his contract early.
Caught Offside have reported that Salah and his agent Ramy Abass Issa are pushing for an agreement. The report claims Salah’s camp are ”desperate” to reach a new deal ahead of the summer. However, the only obstacle is the basic salary. Reports indicate that the forward is earning around £350,000-a-week. Salah and his agent want a significant increase before they agree to sign a new deal.
Reds need to pay up
Liverpool have let a lot of aging stars go over the past few years. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson among other players have all left Anfield in recent seasons. These players were all aging and showing signs of decline which lead to them leaving the club.
However, Mohamed Salah’s case is different. The Egyptian international is playing some of his best football at age 32. And there is nothing showing that he will slow down soon. Salah is still deciding games, and has carried the attack for most of this campaign. Liverpool need to make an exception and pay the man what he’s worth.
