Liverpool are now cautious about the future of some first team stars.
After reports this week that Trent Alexander-Arnold will sign for Real Madrid, the atmosphere at Anfield has turned sour. Liverpool are set to lose their best academy product in the last few years. Trent broke into the first team in 2016 and has gone on to become one of Europe’s best right backs. However, Liverpool have failed to convince him to commit to a long-term deal, and he is now on his way out of the club.
This leaves Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Unlike Trent, the duo have made it clear that they would be willing to stay on their terms. Both players would be looking for significant pay rises on their current deals. Salah and Van Dijk are the two highest earners at the club as of this year.

Liverpool star snubs Saudi offer

Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season. The forward has arguably been the best player in Europe this campaign. Salah has over 40 goal contributions in the Premier League this season. He has carried the reds’ attack and has been a huge beneficiary of Arne Slot’s new style.
Since January, the 32-year old has been linked with a move away from Anfield. He had lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League during the winter transfer window. But Liverpool rejected the bid as Salah wanted to end the season in England.
According to Ben Jacobs, Mohamed Salah is growing closer to signing a new deal at Anfield. This comes after reports that Al Hilal have backed off of signing the Egyptian international. The Saudi Pro League club have not received any indication that Salah wants to move, and will not make any approaches from their end. Earlier this season, it was reported that Salah would like to continue at the top level in Europe for a few more seasons. Liverpool have now been given confidence that the forward will commit to a new contract at the end of the season.
Salah is set to stay
Mohamed Salah signing a new contract is great news for Liverpool fans. With new signings expected ahead of next season, the reds will be in position to challenge for silverware again next season under Arne Slot. It would be a smart move for the club if they want to remain competitive for the upcoming campaign.
