Liverpool lost their second game of the season as Crystal Palace handed them another loss, but this time in the English Premier League.
Arne Slot might still be bitter, considering that he missed out on Marc Guehi in the summer as the Eagles weren’t willing to sanction a move for their captain.
This proved to create problems down the line for the Reds as centre-back Giovanni Leoni suffered a season-ending injury against Southampton.
The 18-year-old Italian injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the Carabao Cup clash. Liverpool did go on to win the game, but losing two players meant they didn’t do really well in the next match.
Then, against Crystal Palace, captain Marc Guehi assisted the final goal to beat Liverpool and derail their seven-game unbeaten run. The Eagles have now gone 17 games unbeaten.
Marc Guehi Liverpool claims

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes that things would’ve ended up differently if Guehi had made the switch to the Reds.
“I think this was really won in that tug-of-war to keep Guehi at the football club. Glasner was very aggressive, an aggressive stance.”
“If Guehi was playing today for Liverpool, and maybe in a different world he could have been, Konate got the run-around today, and you saw what they were missing. Guehi was really important to their defence and they got the necessary win that they needed”, Keown told Final Score.
Austrian manager Oliver Glasner was pretty clear on his stance when chairman Steve Parish offered the Merseysiders a transfer. Glasner threatened to walk out the door if the transfer went through.

Oliver Glasner on Marc Guehi’s response
Glasner knew that Guehi wouldn’t hold any grudges against the manager, considering that the defender’s contract expires at the end of the season.
“Of course, he was a little bit disappointed at the beginning. But he said ‘no, it’s fine, I like being here, I like the team, I like the staff, I like Crystal Palace, I’m a south London boy, it’s all good, I will give my best,’ and this is exactly what I knew would happen.”
“I have no concerns at all. I’m completely convinced, and I mention this quite often, as long as Marc is playing for Crystal Palace, he will be playing with 100 per cent”, Oliver Glasner exclaimed his confidence in Guehi.
