Football Insider reveals Marc Guéhi ask price for January (Credits: Imago Images)
The Marc Guéhi saga was one of the toughest pills to swallow at Anfield. Arne Slot had hoped to finally solve the puzzle for the season, but it looks like he might need to go fishing again in the January transfer window.
The Dutch gaffer will have to hold out till the new year, though, as he’s only got three centre-backs in his pocket. The 2024/25 season revealed one critical detail regarding a defensive fault in Slot’s architecture.
The club ranked fourth-worst in the Premier League for set-piece defending. However, the club is trying to fix this issue with a change in the coaching team.
Everything might have been for the best, as Liverpool will have the pleasure of signing Marc Guéhi for an even reduced price in the winter.
Football Insider revealed that the Reds might be able to convince Crystal Palace for £25m. The football outlet also revealed that this is the minimum market price dip as the Palace captain will only have six months left on his contract in January.
The Eagles won’t be eager to let their coveted defender leave on a free, considering he can sign pre-contracts starting January. However, Liverpool will also be on the front foot as a bunch of clubs are interested in signing the English international.

Tensions intensify at Selhurst Park as Glasner exit could directly open doors for a Marc Guéhi transfer

Football Insider also reported that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner might also see the exit doors at Selhurst Park following a feud with the Eagles chairman.
The Austrian gaffer’s contract also runs till 2026, and he has shown no interest in a renewal following the lack of ambition by the club in the transfer market.
This could directly open doors for a March Guéhi exit as Glasner was the only wall holding the Englishman down at Selhurst Park.
“The Marc Guehi situation has not helped things with the manager. There are tensions behind the scenes, he’s not happy even to the point where he’s threatened to walk away in certain circumstances, and Guehi isn’t happy either.”
“The chairman made a decision that went directly against the manager’s wishes, that’s not the type of situation any manager wants to be in.”
“He’s only got a year left on his contract, and I would say he’s highly likely to leave when his deal runs out because of the way things have gone.”
