Liverpool has set a standard for deadline day business this summer transfer window. The club completed a record signing just a few hours before the closure of the transfer market.
Alexander Isak joined the Reds on a British record fee of £125m. This was after they previously broke the same record for Florian Wirtz during the same window.
The German midfielder was welcomed at Anfield thanks to a deal made for £116m. However, everything didn’t go as planned in Merseyside, considering the jinx with Marc Guéhi on deadline day.
To Liverpool’s defence, it was an internal problem at Selhurst Park that resulted in the transfer being blocked. The consequences, though, will be faced by Arne Slot, costing the Dutch manager depth down the defensive centre.
The men’s transfer window might have closed, but Liverpool continues their deadline day tradition in the women’s game. The Reds completed the signing of Swedish footballer Beata Olsson from Kristianstads DFF.
The women’s transfer window will shut down today for international transfers at midnight BST. Beata Olsson is a striker like Alexander Isak and is the first signing since new manager Gareth Taylor took charge.
Taylor joined the club in August following a five-year stint at rivals Manchester City.

The Swede talked about the massive audience for Liverpool in Scandinavia in her interview after signing for the club. She also mentioned how it was always her dream to play on the Isles.
