Manchester United don’t believe they have ‘high chance’ of signing 23-year-old Liverpool target

Liverpool are planning for the upcoming transfer windows and are expected to heavily invest in their defence next summer.

Virgil van Dijk’s contract status has been grabbing headlines and Liverpool are also facing the threat of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer next summer.

A centre-back and a right-back will be on their agenda next year if these two defensive stalwarts move on from the club at the end of the season.

However, there are claims that Liverpool are also looking to bring in a new left-back as they feel that they need to find a long-term successor to Andy Robertson.

Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras is on their shortlist of targets but Manchester United have an option to buy him back, which gives them an advantage.

Liverpool have also been linked with an interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies who will be out of contract next summer.

Manchester United also want the Liverpool left-back target

Davies’ contract situation is being looked at by several clubs such as Real Madrid apart from Liverpool.

Manchester United are expected to bring in a new left-back next summer and have started to look at options across Europe.

According to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Manchester United have made enquiries into the possibility of signing the Bayern Munich left-back.

They are keeping an eye on him but the Premier League giants are not really confident of signing the left-back at this stage.

With clubs such as Real Madrid and Liverpool interested in him, Manchester United are aware that they are not the favourites to sign Davies.

There are no talks over a new deal between Bayern Munich and the player but the German giants are open to re-opening negotiations with Davies and his representatives.

Bayern Munich are keen to keep the player but are not prepared to go over the top in order to meet his wage demands.
