Man United to rival Liverpool for Premier League star

Liverpool are looking at left-backs in the market for a transfer in the summer if they move out one of their current full-backs at the end of the season.

Andy Robertson is still considered the first-choice left-back in the squad despite being in and out of the team this season and is a valued member of the squad.

Liverpool plan to offer him a new contract in the summer and that leaves Kostas Tsimikas’ future at the club vulnerable with suggestions that he could be moved on at the end of the season.

The Merseyside giants are looking at several left-backs who could come in as the long-term successor for Robertson while the Scot is still at Anfield.

Milos Kerkez has been a top target for the Reds and the club have already opened talks over a potential deal to take him to Anfield at the end of the season.

However, the competition for his signature is going to be fierce and they are set to face off against one of the bigwigs of the Premier League.

Manchester United put in probes for Kerkez

The Red Devils have a new head coach in Ruben Amorim and signing a left-back is one of his priorities in the upcoming transfer windows.

Manchester United are considering triggering the €20m buyback clause in Benfica defender Alvaro Carreras’ contract but they are looking at other players as well.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Kerkez has emerged as a top target for Manchester United for a move next summer.

The Bournemouth defender has attracted the attention of their scouts and the club are interested in signing him.

Manchester United have put in enquiries to assess the viability of doing a deal for Kerkez at the end of the season.

They have not made any concrete moves for him yet but Kerkez is being closely assessed by the recruitment team led by Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Liverpool will need to remain vigilant and make a decision on whether they want to sign a left-back soon as Manchester United could steal a march on their pursuit of Kerkez if they take too long to make a call.
