Liverpool to swoop for former Manchester City star

Liverpool hope Mohamed Salah will agree to sign a new contract and extend his stay beyond the end of the season. However, negotiations have dragged on for months and the club have started to look at players who could come in to replace the Egyptian if he leaves.

Sporting director Richard Hughes is still pushing to keep Salah but he would not be doing his job if the club were not lining up replacements for the winger.

Liverpool are aware that replacing the 32-year-old would not be a straightforward deal given the impact he has had on the club’s fortunes since arriving on Merseyside in the summer of 2017.

The Merseyside giants have been looking at young players who have the talent to come in and be the long-term replacement for Salah at Anfield in the coming years.

However, Liverpool are also aware that a possible Salah departure would also mean losing his experience from the dressing room and the club are not shying away from looking at more established players with vital Premier League experience.

Liverpool are claimed to be looking at bringing a player back to England who has the experience of winning the Premier League.

The club are keeping tabs on ex-Premier League star

According to TeamTalk, former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has emerged on the shortlist of targets for Liverpool.

The German winger will be out of contract at the end of the season and there is still no agreement over a new deal with Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old winger could be moving on from the German giants on a free transfer next summer.

A return to the Premier League has been mooted and Liverpool are amongst the clubs who are interested in getting their hands on the player.

Liverpool admire the winger’s quality and appreciates the fact that he would add experience and title-winning nous to their squad next season.

He is seen as one of the players who could come in and replace Salah in the team if the Egyptian moves on next summer.

However, more Premier League clubs are expected to get into the mix if it becomes clear that Sane is keen to return to England in 2025.
