Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are still sorting out their priorities and the positions they need to strengthen in the upcoming transfer windows.
The Merseyside giants are almost certain to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. Hughes and his team are in the process of compiling a shortlist of strikers as they continue to assess options across Europe.
Liverpool have several forwards on their watchlist but they are yet to settle on a top target and will continue to monitor strikers in the upcoming months.
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has emerged as a target for next summer and the club are also keeping close tabs on Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush who is believed to be pushing to join the Merseyside giants next summer.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt insist Liverpool are yet to contact them and there seems to be a new variable in the transfer saga.
Omar Marmoush on Manchester United’s shortlist
Marmoush is said to be keen on joining Liverpool and the club have already held initial talks with his representatives over a potential transfer next summer.
It was believed Liverpool would have a clear run on the Egyptian forward at the end of the season but that is no longer the case.
According to Sky Deutschland, Marmoush is also being monitored by Manchester United.
New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim wants a new striker next summer and the club are looking at several forwards.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Marmoush’s goalscoring record this season has turned heads and Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing the striker next summer.
He is in the form of his life. The 25-year-old – an Egypt team-mate of Mo Salah’s – has already scored 14 goals and registered ten assists for the campaign.
Liverpool hope that in a direct competition with Manchester United, they would have the edge as the striker wants to move to Anfield.
However, it is one more extra thing to worry about and could force the Reds to accelerate negotiations with the player’s agents and Eintracht Frankfurt.
