Liverpool suffer damaging injury blow

Liverpool sit at the summit of the Premier League table and have an eight-point lead at the top. The Merseyside giants have emerged as favourites to win the league but injuries could still derail their title hopes.

Arne Slot’s men are coasting in the Premier League at the moment but there is no room for complacency. The Liverpool manager is aware that the season is long and more twists will come.

Liverpool are already missing a few players due to injuries but the club are not expecting to spend money in January as several of these stars are expected to return to action in the coming weeks.

Slot hopes to have more options to play with moving forward and is reasonably happy with the strength and depth of his squad ahead of the winter transfer window.

However, one more player is set to miss a few more games as fresh injury news has emerged out of the Liverpool squad this week.

Left-back drops out due to injury

Andy Robertson missed pre-season due to injury and is no longer a certainty in the starting eleven at Liverpool this season.

Slot has opted to rotate his left-back this season with Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas dropping in and out of the team since the start of the campaign.

However, the Liverpool manager will no longer have that option for a while as according to the Times, Tsimikas will be out of action for a short period.

It has been claimed that the Greek defender picked up an ankle injury during training this season and will face a spell on the sidelines.

It means Robertson is almost certain to start the next few games and he will hope to cement his spot in the team.

Liverpool are in the market for a left-back and Tsimikas is the player who is expected to be moved on next summer to make space for a new signing.

Robertson’s experience is valued at Liverpool and the club are planning to offer him a new contract at the end of the season.

The injury has come at a bad time for Tsimikas who has all to prove to save his Liverpool career in the coming months.
