Liverpool handed positive verdict on Mo Salah contract

Liverpool are eyeing Mohamed Salah replacement

The Mo Salah contract saga has turned into a public battle after the forward revealed that he is yet to be offered a new contract by Liverpool. The star man is annoyed but Liverpool are being careful to ensure that they do not cede too much ground in the negotiations to the forward and his representatives.

Salah scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday. The forward displayed why the club needed him and would do well to offer him a new contract as soon as possible.

The star man has been left annoyed by the way the Reds have dragged their feet in the negotiations but admitted that signing a new deal with Liverpool is no longer in his hands.

The 32-year-old wants to stay at Anfield but is keen to get a three-year deal, which Liverpool are reluctant to offer as they do not want to get trapped in an expensive contract with an ageing star.

Liverpool owner John Henry is said to be ready to hold a meeting with Salah in the next 24 hours to sort out the differences and clarify the club’s argument.

It seems there is still a real willingness on both sides to reach a common ground and agree on a new contract.

Mo Salah contract saga: Talks are still positive

Renowned journalist David Ornstein has weighed in on the state of the negotiations and claimed that both sides are still keen to agree on a new deal.

He insisted that while Liverpool are yet to make a formal offer, the negotiations between the two sides have been positive and there is no bad blood between them.

Ornstein stressed that Salah will have several offers on his table if he decides to leave Liverpool but he believes the forward will eventually sign a new contract.

“It’s clear Salah wants to stay at Liverpool FC & vice versa. But it will come down to whether Liverpool FC will / can meet his expectations”, Ornstein began.

“I hear talks are positive, even if no formal offer has landed to date.

“This is not as simple as it might seem and there are many factors – but Salah remains world-class on the pitch and is showing no sign of slowing, his conduct off-field is said to be exemplary and he’d surely have his pick of clubs were he on the market.

“Personal opinion? They eventually reach an agreement to renew.”
