The Mohamed Salah contract situation at Liverpool has remained unsorted and there is still a big chance that the forward will leave Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Salah’s cryptic social media post last weekend sent the Liverpool fan into a state of confusion as it seemed that he was laying down the groundwork for a summer exit.
The attacker is still the most potent attacking option in the Liverpool squad but the club are still not sure whether he will be back on Merseyside next season.
His preference is to stay at Liverpool but the club’s last offer angered the forward and he is now prepared to explore options with Barcelona, MLS and Saudi teams on his tail.
It was a similar situation a few years ago when Salah was again running down his contract and an agreement was reached late in the day in 2022 to keep him at the club.
However, it has emerged that negotiations were not smooth then as well and there was conflict behind the scenes before a deal was agreed upon.
The Salah contract negotiations previously had its fair share of drama
There were concerns about Liverpool losing Salah a few years back as well when negotiations over a new deal dragged on for months.
Remi Abbas, his agent, is known for being a strict negotiator and sticking to his position no matter what everyone thinks about him or his client.
Liverpool had to work hard to reach a deal last time around and negotiations have again dragged this time around as well.
However, it has emerged that Abbas was not entirely convinced that Liverpool wanted to offer the kind of deal Salah eventually signed in 2022.
According to The Athletic, his agent sensed that Liverpool were a bit reluctant about the final offer they made to Salah and he was not sure that they wanted the forward to sign those terms.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Liverpool are yet to get close to making an offer that would make Salah sign a new deal this time around.
The forward is prepared to sign on the current terms if he is offered a three-year deal, a demand Liverpool are yet to adhere to.
