Liverpool will be left shocked if star leaves for a Champions League rival

A good start to the season under new manager Arne Slot has calmed the nerves at Liverpool but the club are facing the threat of a major upheaval over the next few months.

A run of five wins in their opening six games has pushed Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table in the first months of the 2024/25 campaign.

Slot has won over the fans and pundits who were sceptical about him when he was handpicked to succeed Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

Despite an underwhelming summer transfer window, the new Liverpool boss has managed to leave his imprint on the team and their style of football.

However, the initial optimism around Liverpool could soon turn sombre given the speculation over the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three players are in the final year of their respective contracts and the club are nowhere close to agreeing new deals with any of them yet.

Liverpool have been asked to break the bank to keep Salah but questions are being raised whether the club actually want to keep him.

Liverpool not expecting Salah to join any of their Champions League rivals if he leaves next summer

The common consensus is that Salah will likely move to Saudi Arabia for big money if he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season.

However, there are suggestions that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in convincing him to pack his bags for the French capital next summer.

According to GiveMeSport, such a move would come as a shock for the Merseyside giants if it happens.

Liverpool are still unaware of what Salah wants to do as internal discussions are yet to lead to any revelations of his plans beyond the end of the ongoing campaign.

However, the Reds are not expecting the attacker to join one of their Champions League rivals if he decides to pack his bags next summer.

Liverpool are also under the impression that Salah has not decided yet and would likely want to see how the season progresses under the new manager.
