Liverpool have made a solid start to the season under new manager Arne Slot but the club’s recruitment team are working on nailing down targets for the the upcoming transfer windows.
A haul of 15 points from their opening six Premier League games have helped them reach the top of the league table ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal.
Slot’s Liverpool have emerged as a real title contender despite a lackadaisical summer transfer window where they failed to secure their priority – signing a defensive midfielder.
Liverpool are keen to back the Dutchman with funds in the winter transfer window and have plans to sign an elite defensive midfielder in January.
However, the club are also looking a bit more ahead and there are concerns about the effectiveness of Darwin Nunez in the long term.
The Reds could be in the market for a striker next summer and Sesko is one of the players the club have been tracking for a while.
Sesko’s future has been clarified amidst interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal
The Slovenian signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer, which also removed the €65m release clause from his old deal.
Several clubs were interested in paying that clause but the forward signed a new deal, which has given Leipzig more power at the negotiating table.
Liverpool are amongst the several clubs who are expected to try and sign Sesko in the summer and there are mechanisms in the new deal for him to leave Leipzig in the next two summers.
According to the Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the new contract has a ‘non-clause’ which will allow the forward to leave the German club for a certain figure.
However, that figure would have to be worked out between Sesko and the club before his suitors could make a move for him.
It has been claimed that Sesko is unlikely to leave Leipzig next summer for anything less than the figure between €75m and €80m.
