Alexander Isak’s Liverpool transfer was the biggest saga of the summer. And it seems the Reds will find themselves back negotiating with the Magpies. An important player is on Anfield’s shopping list.
Liverpool’s recent defensive troubles led to them sliding down the table to second in the Premier League. Demoralising trips to London at Crystal Palace and Chelsea have seen Pool dropping six points. Arsenal being the big benefactors by overturning a five-point deficit into a one-point lead.
Alexander Isak was involved in a long drawn transfer saga between the two Northern clubs. The Swede essentially went on a strike during the transfer window, thereby forcing Newcastle’s hand.
But the clubs may be bracing up for another battle as Liverpool come calling again.

Woefully short of players in the defensive department, Liverpool could be swooping in for Sven Botman’s signature. According to Talksport, Botman is one of the players being considered for a role at the club.
Liverpool will be requiring a centre back soon. Ibrahim Konate’s future at the club is uncertain. In addition, Giovanni Leoni’s long-term injury will be keeping him out till next summer. The Reds were seeking Marc Guehi as a replacement but that deal fell through eventually.
Buying Botman will continue the data driven approach shown by Liverpool in the transfer market recently.
Meanwhile other options also on the table
Apart from Botman scoring highly in Liverpool’s data analysis, there are others too who impressed the club. Willian Pacho, Zeno Debast and Ousmane Diomande are the others whose names came up.
Pacho’s current contract with PSG runs until 2029, making him a tough nut to crack. While Sporting duo Debast and Diomande have suitors in the Premier League. Manchester United buying Debast is a possibility. While Crystal Palace are eyeing Diomande.
