Liverpool are planning a number of deals ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club is hoping to see how this season ends before they make any decisions to change the squad. Liverpool sit top of the Premier League with six points and a game in hand. The reds are also through to the knockout round of the Champions League. Arne Slot’s team can dream of winning the quadruple. However, Liverpool will have to beat Spurs in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final to stand a chance of winning the trophy.
Leaving Anfield on a high is priority for some players at the club. Especially Mohamed Salah, who is intent on winning the Premier League:
“Yeah, I think slightly different but last season we were also very close to that number [of points] but again, as I’ve said before, we need to stay humble and just take it each game at a time. Focus on each game – we don’t have to think further, just think about each game.”

Heading into the summer, Liverpool have identified some parts of the team that need to be strengthened. The club has reportedly factored possible departures from Anfield. This is crucial as the reds continue to convince Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign new deals. The trio have been pivotal in how well the team have fared this campaign.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have targeted FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, and Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller. The reds are internally discussing the two midfielders, as they look to beef up the squad. Frenkie De Jong would be the cheaper option as he reportedly is available for €35million. Barcelona also want to offload the Dutch midfielder and his high wages.
Angelo Stiller has also popped up the radar of Europe’s top clubs. After his impressive performances in the Champions League this season, he has grown his reputation. Stuttgart would be unwilling to sell him for cheap. However, it is reported that Stiller has a €40million release clause.
Will the reds sign both players?
Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai are Arne Slot’s first choice midfield. Signing two more players that will want to play regularly is not a great idea. And with Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones also in the squad, it is more likely that only one of Stiller or De Jong will arrive at Anfield. Liverpool could also decide to sell Elliot, as this was reported earlier in January.
