Liverpool to sanction shock exit for Reds star after offering new contract

Liverpool are set to feel the effects of the current contract sagas at the club in the near future.

The Reds are having fantastic season, sitting top of the Premier League with a six point lead and a game in hand. Liverpool also topped the Champions League group phase as they cruised to the knockout rounds. Arne Slot has been better than expected. He has shocked the league with how well he has drilled this Liverpool side.

The Dutch coach has brought the best out of Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz, who underperformed last season. Slot has achieved all this, with just one permanent first team signing during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are reportedly focusing all their transfer plans to the summer, as they want to see how this season ends. The club are competing on all fronts so far.

The Reds have had their hands full this season, with the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk. The trio are yet to sign new deals at Anfield. All three have been pivotal to the club’s season so far. Especially Mohamed Salah, who leads the Premier League in goals and assists.

Because of the present contract issues, Liverpool are acting fast to tie down other first team players. The club want to prevent a repeat of what has gone on this season. Ibrahima Konate revealed he has been offered a new deal, but is unsure of his future. The Reds have also made plans to give Harvey Elliott a new deal.

In a shock turn of events, Football Insider report that Liverpool will be open to selling Elliott if he fails to sign a contract extension. The midfielder’s current deal expires in 2027. He has been the subject of interest to Brighton and Borussia Dortmund in recent months. Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown reveals what he has heard about the 21-year old.

“Liverpool want to keep him,” he told Football Insider.

“However, they might be open to selling if they can get a decent fee for him, which would allow them to go back into the transfer market and strengthen other areas of their team.

“If he doesn’t sign a new deal, they won’t want him to run down his contract like we’ve seen with Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.”

Liverpool need to act fast on this Harvey Elliot situation before the summer transfer window.
