Liverpool seem to have learned from this summer’s contract saga.
The Reds have had their on-field success this season marred by the news that three of their best players could leave the club for free. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are all out of contract this summer. Since the January transfer window opened, the trio have been linked with moves away from Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been strongly linked with a move to Champions League holders Real Madrid. It has been revealed that the Spanish side’s initial contract offer is ”way off”. Salah and Van Dijk however, have made it clear that they would like to stay at Liverpool if the club offered acceptable terms.
Outside all this noise, Arne Slot has led this Liverpool team to first place in the Premier League and Champions League group phase.

Earlier this week, Ibrahima Konate revealed that he had been offered a new deal by Liverpool. This possibly showed that the club has learnt from their mistakes this season. Now, the Reds have also decided to tie down another key young player at Anfield.
Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are preparing to offer Harvey Elliot a new deal to keep him at the club long term. The midfielder’s current contract runs till 2027. Despite being a rotation player during this campaign, the club sees Elliot as a key player for the future.
The 21-year old emphasized on Tuesday night that he is ready to fight for his place at the club:
“Liverpool is my club, Liverpool is my team,”
“I want to fight for my place, fight for my position in the team.
“I am going to do what it takes and help the team out when it’s possible. It’s down to me to put in the effort, the hard work, the desire, to achieve that. I am not going to give up. I am going to keep fighting and who knows what might happen.”
Lesson learnt by the Reds
It is great news that Liverpool are trying to tie down young stars like Ibrahima Konate and Harvey Elliot. These players will be at the club long term, and will potentially be in line to be the spine of the team when Salah and Van Dijk leave the club.
