Liverpool have already began plans to improve the squad before the season ends.
Arne Slot has exceeded all expectations this campaign. Liverpool are still in the running to win the treble this season. This could have been a run for the quadruple, but the reds suffered a shock defeat to Plymouth last weekend. Slot’s new style at Anfield has turned some players’ fortunes around. Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo, who were inconsistent last season, are new key players in the side. Gravenberch is in the running for player of the season this campaign.
What has become clear as the season goes on is that Liverpool need reinforcements. The team have relied too much on the starters, and whenever Slot has rotated, the results have been mixed. The reds are also lacking a striker, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo carrying the attacking burden this season.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool signed these players from?
Liverpool to confirm first signing of the summer

Liverpool are set to be active in the upcoming transfer window. The reds have signed two first team players since last summer. Federico Chiesa joined on a cut-price deal from Juventus. Giorgi Mamardashvili also joined the club in the summer, but has been loaned back to Valencia.
The reds will be looking at some areas in the squad to revamp when the opportunity arises. Midfield is said to be high priority. TBR football report that Liverpool are in talks with Joshua Kimmich. The Bayern Munich midfielder is out of contract in the summer. Bayern Chief Max Eberl has hinted that the club may decide to move on if the 30-year old continues to hesitate.
“New deal? Of course we know that we can’t wait forever, but we want to give Joshua a bit of time and let his thoughts mature that Bayern Munich is the club where he wants to continue,” Eberl said.
This news came out after Alphonso Davies signed a long-term deal with the Bundesliga club. Davies had also been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer. Manchester City could also provide competition for the future of Joshua Kimmich.
Kimmich could be a shrewd signing
The 30-year old is an ideal signing for Liverpool’s plans. He fills in as depth in midfield, and can occasionally played at right back. With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave Anfield, signing Kimmich could be a useful addition. He would arrive on a free transfer, and it would allow the reds to invest money elsewhere.
