Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League table.
After 24 games, the reds are seven points clear of their nearest challengers Arsenal. Liverpool blew the chance to go nine points clear after they were held to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night. In the last ever Merseyside derby at Anfield, Everton showed a resilient performance and snatched a draw at the death. A last minute equalizer from James Tarkowski prevented the reds from leaving with all three points.
It is not all doom and gloom, a seven point gap is still a healthy cushion for the club. Liverpool can still win the treble this season; the reds have already booked a place in the League Cup final against Newcastle.

This week, Arsenal suffered a huge blow as Kai Havertz was ruled out for the rest of the season. The striker reportedly tore his hamstring while in the training camp in Dubai. The Gunners are already without Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. Mikel Arteta’s team have 14 games to go to possibly win the Premier League.
According to Ben Jacobs, Arsenal could sign a free agent to fill their striking issues till the end of the season. There are not many options available on the market, but the club will explore the market.
One unlikely option for Arsenal could be former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino. Al-Ahli left the Brazilian out of their squad for the rest of the Saudi Pro League season. Firmino can only play Asian Champions League matches from now till the end of the season. Arsenal could orchestrate a move for the 30-year old, but that would require him to end his contract with the Saudi side.
How would reds feel about Firmino joining Arsenal?
Roberto Firmino came to Anfield and spent over eight years of careers giving fans his best. The Brazilian came to England when the club had a string of unsuccessful signings for the striking role. Under Jurgen Klopp, Firmino became one of the best in his unorthodox role up top.
Firmino did not score much, but his defensive work and ability to drop deep and link play made Liverpool tick. His selflessness made Klopp’s heavy-metal attacking football thrive. But now, at the end of his career, moving to Arsenal should not be something fans should be angry about.
Considering how his time at Saudi Arabia is going, moving back to Europe to play regular football is a viable option. Any move to Arsenal would be a short-term agreement. Liverpool fans will have no problem with that.
