The reds are moving fast ahead of the upcoming window as they look to retool the squad. This summer, Arne Slot will be involved in recruitment alongside Richard Hughes. Liverpool made just two permanent additions to the first team over the span of this season. Slot has had to manage the current squad for most of this campaign.
Even though this year has allowed the Liverpool boss to run the rule over the squad, it has exposed some serious flaws. The reds have lacked quality depth in crucial games this season. With imminent departures from Anfield, the club are in the market for quality replacements. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are all set to leave on free transfers. Trent has reportedly agreed to a deal to become a Real Madrid player. The 26-year old is set to bring his long career on Merseyside to an end. Which would leave Liverpool without a first-choice right back ahead of next season. Even though Conor Bradley has stepped up, his recent injury problems have shown he is not reliable enough.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot is set to meet a major transfer target in the upcoming months. Sky Sports Switzerland reports that Jeremie Frimpong will meet the reds boss to discuss a transfer. The report adds that Frimpong and Slot have been in contact over the past few weeks, with the Ex-Feyenoord coach seeing the 24-year old as the ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Bayer Leverkusen star is valued around €50million by his club. Liverpool are expected to test the waters with an opening bid early in the summer window. Michael Edwards is expected to play a role in the transfer talks.
Frimpong ideal replacement for Trent
Jeremie Frimpong has been one of the best wingbacks in Europe over the past two seasons. His production and playing style under Xabi Alonso would be a great fit in Slot’s system. The Liverpool boss is reportedly impressed with the Dutch star, and has personally told him that the club will be in for his signature this summer.
