Liverpool suffer huge blow as €25M target reveals major concerns over Arne Slot

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has surprisingly been involved in the latest transfer saga at Anfield.

The Dutch coach has guided the Reds to the top of the Premier League and Champions League group phase. Liverpool are still in contention to win all the trophies available, the only hindrance is in the League Cup. Slot’s men need to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of the semi final in the next few weeks.

Arne Slot has managed to sail through the season despite the news surrounding key players at the club. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are yet to sign new deals with Liverpool and could leave on free transfers during the summer.

Because of the current contract situations, the Reds have moved quickly to offer new deals to players with 18 months remaining on their contracts, including Ibrahima Konate.

With the decline of Andrew Robertson and the uncertain future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have moved to resolve their fullback problems. Arne Slot has used Conor Bradley this season, and the youngster has showed promise that he can replace Trent long term. At left back, Konstantinos Tsimikas is yet to make the position his own despite Robertson’s poor performances over the past year.

This has lead the Reds to target Slavia Praha left back El Hadji Malick Diouf. The 20-year old left back is highly rated around Europe, and has starred for the Czech club in the Europa League this season. Diouf came out recently to address reports linking him to Liverpool:

“I am concentrating on myself, on Slavia, I have no reason to rush. I told my uncle, my agent, the same thing. He knows everything.”

“I know that one day I will take the next step,” Diouf explains. “That day is approaching, but I have to be convinced that it is happening at the ideal moment so as not to slow down my development.

“I don’t know if that is true [about Liverpool], Diouf told Czech outlet iDnes. “Yes, it sounds nice, but would I play for Liverpool? Would I fit in there? For me, it is essential that I don’t stop. It is difficult to move from the substitute bench. I need to play.”

Liverpool are yet to submit an official bid for the Senegalese star as of the January transfer window.
