Liverpool will be in the market for a new striker this summer.
Arne Slot has not been a fan of Darwin Nunez since he took charge last summer. The former Feyenoord boss has chosen to use Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz up top, moving Nunez to a bench role. Slot’s tactics demand a player that can link the midfield and the attack and score goals. The Uruguayan has shown he can do the former, but his finishing still leaves a lot to be desired. Nunez’s last big cameo was when he came on against Aston Villa and missed two great chances to win the game.
Liverpool’s attack has been too reliant on Mohamed Salah this season, adding a new striker who can create for himself and score is a priority for the team according to reports.

Premier League club do not want to sign Liverpool star

According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle have made it clear that they will not attempt to sign Darwin Nunez. The magpies will rather focus their sights on trying to sign Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott. Both players could cost the club up to €100million.
It has been an up and down season for the 25-year old. Many Liverpool fans thought the Uruguayan turned the corner after his braced secured a crucial 2-0 win over Brentford in January. Arne Slot even challenged the striker to continue his great form.
“The most difficult in football is to find consistency, as a team and an individual. Only a few players are able to be at the same level every few days.
“Then there is a big group of players who can play well but not every time. He is in that group. We have one or two who are in the group of the highest standard. That is a nice challenge for him.”
Since January, Nunez has managed just one Premier League goal. Liverpool would want to recoup most of the €85million fee from his initial transfer. Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce are said to be interested in the striker.
