Liverpool stunned as Newcastle hijack shock deal for Premier League sensation

The Merseyside giants have made a few stunning moves this summer, which have shown their intent and ambition. However, Liverpool are now facing the threat of losing a long-term target to Newcastle United in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool have grabbed eyeballs this summer with their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, who is expected to cost a club-record fee.

They have already snapped up Jeremie Frimpong from the German club and are in negotiations with Bournemouth for the signature of Milos Kerkez in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool are also in the market for wide forwards, but they are now on the cusp of losing one of their top targets to the charm of Newcastle this summer.

Newcastle United set to steal a Liverpool target this summer

Mohammed Kudus has been on Liverpool’s radar for over a year, and the club have been closely monitoring his future at the London Stadium.

A poor second season at West Ham has not deterred Liverpool, and the club are considering signing him if they sell one of Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo.

However, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Newcastle are interested in getting their hands on the player after missing out on Bryan Mbeumo.

However, he is certain the Magpies will not be ready to pay this £75m release clause and will push to bring that figure down through negotiations with the Hammers.

“Newcastle really do need to bring in a player to sort of bolster them in that position”, O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider.

“Because it’s been an ongoing issue, probably for the last three to four transfer windows.

“He’s not going to come cheap, Kudus, there’s no doubt about that.

“He has got a £75m release clause in there. I don’t think Newcastle will be willing to meet that.

“I’m sure they’ll be looking to negotiate a lower fee than that.”
