However, the Reds are still prioritising signing a striker, and the club have been looking at several options as they seek to bring in an upgrade on Darwin Nunez in the ongoing transfer window.

But Liverpool are not the only big club looking for a new striker, and it has been claimed Chelsea are in line to hijack a deal to sign a top Reds target in the summer.

Chelsea to hijack striker deal from Liverpool this summer

Hugo Ekitike is one of the most wanted strikers in European football after a stellar season at Eintracht Frankfurt, and Liverpool want him.

The Reds have held talks with the player and his representatives, and are working on a deal to take him to Anfield in the ongoing summer transfer window.

However, according to Sky Deutschland, Chelsea are the ones who are putting in the legwork to get a deal done to sign Ekitike in the coming days.

Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap, but they are also pushing hard to convince the Frenchman to agree to a transfer to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Liverpool are still in the race, but the Blues are working hard to finalise a deal with Ekitike before approaching Eintracht Frankfurt to discuss a fee.

The German club are insistent that they will not offer any discount and want £84m from his sale this summer.
