Liverpool have already probed the possibility of signing the Chelsea star, but it has been claimed that the club have now gone a step forward.

According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea have opened talks with the player’s representatives to discuss a potential deal for him to move to Anfield this summer.

Nkunku is a serious option on Liverpool’s shortlist, and they believe Slot can get the best out of the versatile forward if he moves to Merseyside this summer.

Newcastle United are also interested in the France international and are keen to try and get a deal done to sign him.

However, Liverpool have the edge in the race as Nkunku would prefer a move to Anfield than St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea want somewhere around £35m for him this summer.
