Liverpool stun Man City with audacious hijack of superstar deal

Pep Guardiola

Liverpool are not keen to spend silly money on players in the summer, but the club also want to show ambition if a top star becomes attainable. The Merseyside giants are now set to carry out an audacious hijack to sign a player from under Manchester City’s nose.

Arne Slot is open to adding some stardust to his squad to ease the pressure on Mo Salah as well as turn Liverpool into a real force in all competitions after winning the Premier League this season.

Liverpool do not seem likely to succeed in snaring Alexander Isak away from Newcastle United despite the striker’s willingness to move to Anfield, and they will not offer silly money to convince the Magpies.

However, the Merseyside giants now have a real chance of signing one of the most wanted players in European football, after it seemed his destination this summer was a done deal.

Name the team Liverpool signed these players from in the 2010s?

The Reds hold talks with the superstar player’s camp

Slot wants to add an attacking midfielder to his squad as he feels his team need more goals and creativity from the middle of the park next season.

And it has been claimed that Liverpool are plotting an audacious swoop to sign the best number 10 in the world.

According to German outlet Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger via GiveMeSport, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has held talks with Florian Wirtz’s camp.

The Reds’ dealmaker is looking to outmanoeuvre Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race to sign the German attacking midfielder this summer.

Bayern Munich have a contractual agreement with Wirtz, and he and his camp were in England on Monday to hold talks with Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola wants him as Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term successor, but so far, the midfielder has not decided which club he wants to join.

Liverpool have thrown their hat into the ring for a player who is set to cost as much as £120m in transfer fees alone.
