Liverpool Hero Approves Transfer As Stunning Anfield Exit Nears

A Liverpool title hero looks set to bring his Anfield chapter to a close after reportedly approving a move away from the club. The decision, which comes amid rising transfer speculation, has not come as a shock for anyone at Anfield and signals a new direction in the Reds’ summer strategy.

Darwin Nunez struggled last season at Anfield under Arne Slot, and in the second half of the campaign, it was clear that he would not be part of the Dutchman’s plans beyond this summer.

Liverpool want a new number 9, and the recruitment team, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, have already identified several key striker transfer targets, including one obvious number one choice.

However, the Premier League champions need to sell Nunez first before they can move for a new striker, and it seems a positive step has been taken towards that direction.

Darwin Nunez approves transfer away from Liverpool

Nunez will leave Liverpool this summer, but he would prefer to stay in Europe over moving to Saudi Arabia, something which the club are keen to push for.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte wants to take the Uruguayan to the steps of Mount Vesuvius in the ongoing transfer window, and talks have been taking place between the club and his representatives.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the striker approved the move to Napoli after holding negotiations with the club.

He is happy with the project presented by Napoli, and a deal is now dependent on the two clubs working out a financial agreement.

The Serie A champions have offered up to £37m during talks with Liverpool and the striker’s agents, but the Reds are holding out for £43m.

Napoli will continue to push for an agreement with the Premier League champions in the coming days.
