Liverpool have reportedly taken a ruthless stance against contract rebel Ibrahima Konate, with the club dropping the hammer after prolonged negotiations broke down. The decision could signal the end of the road for the player’s Anfield future, as a summer transfer now looks increasingly likely.
The Merseyside giants have made some bold decisions this summer, and Florian Wirtz’s arrival on a British record transfer fee is a sign of the ambition they have shown.
However, the champions are facing some tough calls in the coming weeks as they look to decide what’s best for the team going forward while trying to hold on to their best players.
Liverpool have taken a ruthless decision on the future of Konate, and there is now a real possibility the defender could leave the club in the ongoing transfer window.

According to the Guardian, Konate is stalling on signing a new contract at Anfield this summer despite insisting that he is happy on Merseyside.
He has a year left on his current deal, and there is no agreement over fresh terms between Liverpool and the Frenchman’s representatives.
The French defender is understood to have rejected Liverpool’s initial offer after feeling disappointed by the terms.
The 26-year-old is unhappy with the structure of the club’s offer, with his representatives pushing for a higher basic wage after the offer was heavily incentivised based on meeting certain performance targets.
Liverpool are wary of the Frenchman running down his contract and leaving on a free next year. They will make a fresh offer later in the summer, but are determined not to overpay.
Konate is likely to be sold if Liverpool fail to reach an agreement over a new deal with him and his representatives.
