Liverpool star to reject new deal for Chelsea move

Liverpool are expecting multiple departures in the upcoming window.

The reds are anticipating a busy summer transfer window. Liverpool have planned to make changes to the squad, but will base it on how the team end the season. Arne Slot has done a wonderful job despite having just one permanent first team signing in the summer.

Slot’s style of football has benefited some current players greatly. The more possession-based style has seen Ryan Gravenberch play his best football so far. Cody Gakpo has also improved exponentially after a slow start to his career. Liverpool could still end the season with a treble, despite exiting the FA Cup last weekend.

The reds have already booked a place in the League Cup final against Newcastle. Slot can still win the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Liverpool still have a lot of business on their hands from now till the end of the season. The reds are still locked in talks with Salah, Trent and Van Dijk. The trio are all out of contract in the summer, and it looks increasingly likely that at least one will leave. Van Dijk recently shut down rumours of a contract extension. Trent Alexander-Arnold has also reportedly reached a decision with Real Madrid.

One player outside the trio who could leave this summer is Caomhin Kelleher. The reds’ backup keeper has drawn a lot of attention over the past year. The Ireland international has been a capable deputy for Alisson since last year. Football Insider have revealed that Chelsea have emerged as clear front runners. The Blues are eager to fix their goalkeeping issues.

Kelleher mentioned in September that he would like to move to become a number one option:

“I’ve made it clear in the last few years that I want to go and be a number one and play week in, week out,” he said.

“The club’s made that decision to get another goalkeeper and from the outside looking in, it looks like they’ve made a decision to go in a different direction.”

The Ireland international’s current deal expires in the next two seasons, and it is clear he will not sign an extension. Liverpool would reportedly be looking for a fee around £25million for Kelleher.

Reds can make good business off Kelleher

With Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive in the summer, Kelleher could find himself as the third choice. Liverpool could make a decent profit off the 26-year old, especially with interest from Premier League sides.
