Liverpool will know the future of some first team stars soon.
With a few months left to the summer transfer window, the reds will be busy. The club is set to make significant changes to the squad ahead of next season. After seeing how well Arne Slot has done with the current squad, the club see it fit to back him in the upcoming window.
The futures of Liverpool’s three best players are still up in the air. Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly signed his Real Madrid contract. Which leaves Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Both have mentioned that they would like to stay at Anfield if the club offers them good terms. The Liverpool captain recently rubbished rumours surrounding his future in an interview:
“If there is news, you guys will know it. I don’t even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes but that is about it. At the moment, I don’t even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face.”

This past week the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold has been known to the media. The reds star will reportedly sign a five-year deal with the Spanish giants. Trent is expected to receive a huge pay rise and a significant signing bonus on him signing the new deal. Liverpool tried to fight for the defender, but ultimately failed to convince him to stay. The 26-year old has been a huge part of Arne Slot’s success this season. His absence in the League Cup final is a sign that Liverpool need a quality replacement, with Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong being linked with a move to Anfield.
Unfortunately, La Liga rules will prevent Trent Alexander-Arnold from doing this one thing when he eventually signs for Real Madrid. The England star will not be allowed to wear his jersey number 66 in Spain. La Liga dictates that first team players must wear a number between one and 25, reflecting the maximum size of the squad. This means the defender will have to take on a new number from the one he made famous during his time in England.
Trent is currently injured after twisting his ankle in the Champions League a few weeks ago. He will miss Liverpool’s first match back from the international break against Everton in April.
