Liverpool will have to compete with Europe’s best in the summer market.
The reds plan to revamp the squad after the events of this season. Liverpool only added one permanent first team player for Arne Slot this season, the other player was sent out on loan. Even with the one signing, Federico Chiesa has been unfit for most of the season, and only became actively involved in the first team from December.
Liverpool know they will lose key players this summer and will be in the market for adequate replacements. Filling out the squad depth with quality is also a priority after the events of these past few weeks. The reds relying on Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones for goals in crucial Champions Leauge ties and a League Cup final is underwhelming.

Liverpool join race for Manchester City target
The reds will be in the market for a new right back following this week’s news. Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Anfield this summer, and will sign a five-year deal with Real Madrid. This would leave Conor Bradley as the only natural option at the position heading into next season. Jarell Quansah filled in the role during the League Cup final but offered nothing going forward during the loss.
The importance of the position has seen Liverpool join the race for Andrea Cambiaso according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Manchester City were heavily linked with signing the Italian international in January, but they postponed their plans to the summer. Now the report claims Juventus will be looking for a buyer for the 25-year old as the club continues to struggle with their finances.
Cambiaso could be a flexible weapon for Arne Slot. The defender can play both fullback roles and in midfield, one of the reasons why Pep Guardiola’s team showed an interest. Juventus would be looking for around €65million.
€65M fee is too much for a fullback
Everyone knows Liverpool will have to operate within their budget during this summer window. It has been widely reported that the club prioritizes signing a central defender and a striker. Spending this kind of money on a fullback looks unreasonable especially with cheaper options on the market.
The likes of Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong could be signed for less than this fee. Liverpool need to look elsewhere, especially as the fullback position is not an immediate concern ahead of next season.
If the club raise enough money from sales, then a move for Cambiaso might be plausible.
