Liverpool are nearing the end of the season with one eye on the transfer window.
The club is making plans for some major changes to the squad. The reds have quietly done some rebuilding over the past few years. Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have all joined the club over the last two seasons. Their first seasons were a bit rough as they struggled to adapt.
However, under Arne Slot this season, a lot of these players are having their best campaigns. Ryan Gravenberch has benefitted the most from Slot’s possession-based style. The Dutch international is arguably the Premier League’s best midfielder this season.

Liverpool star is not in a rush to leave the club

Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are set to leave after the end of the season. The trio have played an important part in the club’s success this campaign. Salah has 25 goals in the league, Van Dijk is playing at his best, and Trent has bounced back from a poor campaign last year. Liverpool are concerned that all three may leave in the summer. So far, no advancements have been made during negotiations. Salah and Van Dijk have been tipped to stay, but Trent is almost certainly gone. The defender has reportedly agreed a four-year deal with Real Madrid.
One player who is not in any hurry to leave the club is Andrew Robertson. The left back is expected to stay beyond this season. According to The Athletic, Liverpool see Robertson as a valuable player in the squad. The reds believe his experience will be valuable going forward. Liverpool are reportedly looking at adding a new left back to the team this summer. Robertson will be expected to compete and provide support for the potential new signing.
Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez has been linked with a move to Liverpool this week. The defender’s agent revealed that the 21-year old could be playing for a bigger club next season.
Good move keeping Robertson
Liverpool seeing a future for Robertson is a good thing. The club is already set to lose three players from their starting defence this summer. Keeping the Scotland international for his experience and leadership is a positive. Any new left back the club brings in will benefit from Robertson’s guidance. Liverpool fans should be pleased an old face will stick around for next year.
