Liverpool star makes final appearance amidst transfer rumours

Arne Slot gave a chance to some Liverpool players midweek in the Champions League.

The Reds rested around nine first team players in their game against PSV on Wednesday night. Liverpool lost 3-2 to the Eredivisie side, with the young Reds on display putting up a good showing. Cody Gakpo, and Harvey Elliot were on the scoresheet on the night.

Slot lost his first game in the Champions League this season, losing his 100% record in the group phase. The dutch coach made it clear in the press conference that he would use the game to rotate players. Liverpool take on Spurs, Everton and Bournemouth in the next few weeks.

Arne Slot made it clear that the fans should not expect a lot of transfer activity in the coming days. However, Liverpool are working on deals for fringe players and young prospects. Calvin Ramsay has already been loaned out, and Jayden Danns is reportedly being pursued by Championship clubs.

Slot started Quansah, Bradley, McConnell and Danns against PSV on Wednesday night. The club’s youngsters showed their quality despite the loss. There have been suggestions that the game gave Slot the chance to analyse who to keep ahead of the transfer deadline.

Now, one of the players involved on Wednesday night is set to leave. Tyler Morton came on in the 63rd minute and got involved a lot in midfield. The Mirror reports that the 22-year old could be set to leave the club ahead of the transfer deadline.

Morton made it clear that he is ready to play first team football, hinting to a possible move:

“…This month is obviously a big month for myself. It’s decision time.

“I think I’m ready to kick on and be a proper professional. Definitely, I think I’m ready to kick on now and ready to move up a step. If that’s here or if that’s somewhere else, football’s football. I’ve got to go and be a bit selfish and go with however I feel.”

Slot has a decision to make

This season, Arne Slot has been able to call on his first choice midfielders for every game. This has left some very talented players on the fringes of the first team. Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot have had to accept rotation roles because of this. Tyler Morton is behind the duo in the pecking order, and a move away from the club would be the best for all parties.
