Liverpool are yet to make a permanent signing this month.
Fans of the club called for reinforcements earlier this year, when the club suffered a blip in form. Within two weeks, the Reds dropped points to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Liverpool also lost the first leg of their league cup semi-final against Tottenham.
But the team bounced back, recording a crucial win away to Brentford, who had held Manchester City to a draw that same week. Despite the slip, Liverpool still sit top of the Premier League and are through to the knockout round of the Champions League.

Arne Slot makes Liverpool transfer promise

The club has made it clear that their priority is for transfers in the summer. Thus Slot has to make the best of the current squad. The dutch coach has done an incredible job this season, bringing the best out of Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool are in a strong position now, and are willing to wait till the summer to approach transfer matters. The futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be priority from now till the end of the season. Despite links to Saudi clubs, Salah has made his desire clear to stay. Trent on the other hand, is reportedly close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid.
Arne Slot has now come out to address the concerns of Liverpool fans:
”Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League. I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level.
I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.
But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
Who will be the transfer targets this summer?
Liverpool have some areas of the squad they will need to strengthen. The two fullback positions, a winger, and a striker will be high on their list. The Reds will need a replacement for Trent Alexander Arnold, and an upgrade on Andrew Robertson. Slavia Prague wingback Malick Diouf has been linked with the Reds.
If Salah leaves, a right winger will be needed, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo fits the bill. Up front, Darwin Nunez could leave, and Jonathan David on a free transfer sounds like an ideal replacement.
