Liverpool star linked with shock move to Tottenham

Ahead of this summer Liverpool have a lot of decisions to make.

The club is planning a huge overhaul of the squad ahead of next season. The last few weeks have showed the weaknesses in the team. Arne Slot has done a great job this season, but in crucial moments, the team’s quality has failed him. It has become a recurring theme this season, when Mohamed Salah is taken out of the game, the rest of the attack cannot function.

Paris Saint-Germain did a very good job on Salah over both legs in the Champions League. Newcastle also managed to keep the forward away from the ball in Sunday’s final. The result was both teams beating Liverpool. None of the reds other attackers stepped up to try and change the game.

Arne Slot has asked for new signings ahead of next season. One player on his way out of Anfield is Darwin Nunez.

The reds will have to deal with the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk before the end of the season. All three are out of contract this summer. As things stand, all three look likely to leave the club than to stay.

Liverpool also have to deal with players in the last year of their contract. Ibrahima Konate, Caomhin Kelleher and Andrew Robertson’s contracts expire in 2026. Reports indicate Robertson will receive a short-term extension. Konate is yet to decide his future, a deal is on the table for him to sign. Kelleher is expected to leave Anfield this summer.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has said that Caomhin Kelleher will be an upgrade on most starting keepers in the Premier League:

“As a Liverpool fan, I’d love to see him go abroad. I think it would be great for him. I’m looking at the top teams here and there’s some teams like Tottenham that need a better goalkeeper… Manchester United need a better keeper! But he’s not going there!

“He could play for any team in the Premier League but personally you know I’d say it’s one of the top teams in Europe that he deserves. Italy, Spain, Germany or whatever. I think that would be perfect for him, I really do.”

Kelleher provides an opportunity for the reds

Liverpool stand to make a healthy profit off of selling Caomhin Kelleher. Over the last two seasons he has proved a capable deputy to Alisson. Premier League clubs will be lining up to sign the Ireland international this summer.
