Liverpool have shown that they won’t shy away from getting into transfer battles for high-value players this summer. However, Manchester United are willing to get their hands dirty and steal a French prodigy who has been on Liverpool’s radar for months.

The Merseyside giants have shown intent with their pursuit of Florian Wirtz, who is expected to join Liverpool this summer for a club-record fee of £113m.

Liverpool are already committed to paying £30m for Jeremie Frimpong and are likely to splash out £45m for the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The Reds will need player sales to fund more new signings, and Manchester United are keen to take advantage by stealing a French sensation Liverpool have been tracking for months.

Maghnes Akliouche still has three years left on his contract, but several big clubs are circling to snare him away from Monaco in the summer window.

Ruben Amorim wants a versatile player who can play as one of the two number 10s behind the striker, and Akliouche is seen as a player who could be a perfect fit for that role.

Manchester United are yet to approach him, but he is definitely being assessed ahead of the summer transfer window.

Monaco are prepared to sell if a club are willing to offer in excess of £50m for the France Under-23 international.
