Liverpool are set to spend big money in the coming days, and it has increased the pressure on Richard Hughes to bring in good fees from player sales. However, the Reds are definite about not wanting to sell on player who is in the headlines, linking him with a move away in the next transfer window.
The Merseyside giants are on the cusp of agreeing on a club-record deal to sign Florian Wirtz, and are also set to announce Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival in the coming days.
A big transfer deal to take Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth to Anfield is also on the cards, and the club are now slowly shifting their focus to selling players this summer.
Liverpool need player sales to fund moves for a centre-back and a striker, but the club have blocked the exit of a top player who has hit the headlines because of the growing rumours around his future.

Liverpool block a big summer transfer away from Anfield

Cody Gakpo’s future has hit the headlines this summer due to suggestions that he could leave Liverpool in a big-money transfer this summer.
Bayern Munich are interested in taking him away from Anfield, and Liverpool would be open to the transfer if a big enough offer lands on their table.
However, Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele has ruled out the possibility of Liverpool selling the Dutchman and feels Gakpo is one of the few forwards who is certain to stay at Anfield.
“The only thing to say on Gakpo is that Bayern Munich are definitely interested,” the Liverpool journalist explained”, Steele said on his YouTube channel.
“I saw that was reported last week in Germany, I checked it out, and it is true, they are keen. They like Kauro Mitoma as well.
“I can’t see Liverpool selling Cody Gakpo this summer, no way.
“The only certainty is that Salah will be at Liverpool next season – and I think Cody Gakpo is also very, very likely to also be at Liverpool.”
