Liverpool have not shied away from splashing the cash to land some top performers from other Premier League clubs with Virgil van Dijk being a prime example of such a move paying off.
However, the Merseyside giants have been keen to look at more cost-effective deals from clubs in Europe as it has been getting increasingly difficult to negotiate with Premier League clubs.
The riches of the Premier League clubs mean that wanting to sign any player from them means a premium would have to be paid for those stars.
Given these players are Premier League proven add to the costs of any deal and several of them are often priced out of a move to another Premier League.
Michael Olise was one of the players who was linked with a move to several clubs in the Premier League but he eventually left Crystal Palace to join Bayern Munich last summer.
The Frenchman has been a star for Bayern Munich this season and is showing why so many top Premier League clubs wanted him in the previous window.

The Merseyside giants also had their eyes on him but eventually decided against trying to sign him given the complicated nature of the release clause he had in his Palace contract.
However, Dietmar Hamann feels the Reds missed out on a player who could have replaced Mohamed Salah in the long run.
He conceded that Bayern Munich are now unlikely to sell him any time soon but urged Liverpool to try and get their hands on the player who is destined to reach the top of the game.
“I’m very surprised no one picked Michael Olise up in England, if anyone was to replace Mohamed Salah, it would be him”, Hamann told Flashscore.
“He’s a brilliant player, he can score goals and create. Bayern won’t want to lose Olise, but I won’t be surprised if Liverpool offers a big fee for him.
“Michael Olise will need to stay for a few years to reach that level, but he does have the ability to become as good as Arjen Robben. He certainly has the ability.”
Will it happen?
Olise has been at Bayern Munich for just months and he is already getting linked with a return to England.
Several Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester United wanted him but he opted to join the German giants.
The winger is unlikely to want to return to England but in the long, it could be on the cards.
Premier League giants such as Liverpool have the funds to convince Bayern Munich to cash in on Olise in the future.
However, the Reds could have secured Salah’s replacement last summer even before he left the club if they were willing to play ball with Palace.
