Liverpool could receive a huge financial boost this summer.
The plan for the reds is to wait until the end of the season before making any changes to the squad. This was the reason no player was brought in despite complaints about the squad’s depth. Liverpool’s lack of quality back up players was quite evident in their FA Cup exit to Plymouth on Sunday. The performance away from home was one of the worst this season. Arne Slot decided to rest key players, and started a mixture of fringe players and youngsters.
Liverpool have also suffered another huge blow from Sunday. Arne Slot has confirmed a further two injury problems to the team. This comes after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s thigh injury in last weekend’s game against Bournemouth.

It has been implied that for Liverpool to do business in the summer, they would need to move players on. The squad will need some changes based on what we have seen this season. The reds could also be forced into the market to find replacements for Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk.
Liverpool also have to worry about other players in the team leaving. Chelsea have shown a strong interest in signing Caoimhin Kelleher this past month. According to Football Insider, Newcastle have now joined the race for the reds’ backup goalkeeper.
With Mamardashvili to return from his loan in the summer, it is very likely that Kelleher will be the third choice keeper next year. Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has also suggested that the 26-year old keeper needs to leave the club:
“I think next season at Liverpool we will have Alisson starting and Giorgi Mamardashvili on the bench, with Caoimhin Kelleher leaving.
“My understanding is that Kelleher will leave and they won’t be short of takers. He is an outstanding goalkeeper and deserves the chance to go and be a number one. I think he will get a really good move and Alisson will have a season in front of Mamardashvili to help him learn and get settled.
“Where could Kelleher go? I think probably Newcastle, if they’re thinking of evolving as a club and becoming more competitive.”
Liverpool are said to value Kelleher around £25million. Multiple clubs in the Premier League and around Europe are in search of a starting keeper, and the Ireland international fits the bill.
